The Department of Constitutional Law invites you to a seminar in the recently launched Prague Constitutional Seminar Series:

Donald L. Horowitz (Duke University) will speak on the topic Constitutional Processes, Polarization and Moderation.

Bio

Prof. Donald L. Horowitz is the James B. Duke Professor of Law and Political Science Emeritus at Duke University (USA). He is a leading expert on constitutional design, particularly—but not exclusively—in divided societies. He has consulted widely on institutions and policies that might be adopted to promote democracy and reduce ethnic strife in such areas as Russia, Romania, Nigeria, Tatarstan, Fiji, and Northern Ireland. Prof. Horowitz is the author of eight books, including A Democratic South Africa? Constitutional Engineering in a Divided Society (1991), Constitutional Change and Democracy in Indonesia (2013), and the edited volume Electoral Reform and Democracy in Malaysia (2023).
