Mini-Symposium on European Perspectives on Inheritance and Gift Taxation
The Department of Financial Law and Financial Science, Faculty of Law, Charles University, invites you to the Czech-German mini-symposium Taxing the Transfer of Wealth? Comparative Perspectives on Inheritance and Gift Taxation, which will take place on 2 July 2026, from 9:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Faculty of Law, Heidelberg University. Online participation will also be available.
The mini-symposium will address legal, theoretical and comparative aspects of taxing wealth transfers, with a particular focus on inheritance and gift taxation. The discussion will examine the justification of such taxes, comparative European developments, the Czech legal experience, and the role of family privileges in the design of wealth transfer taxes.
The event brings together scholars from the Faculty of Law, Charles University, and the Faculty of Law, Heidelberg University, and aims to provide a platform for comparative academic discussion on the current and future role of inheritance and gift taxation in Europe.
