The OSCAL – New course on nuclear law project was successful in the international 4EU+SEED competition
In December 2025, the Executive Committee of the European University Alliance 4EU+ announced the results of the international 4EU+SEED project competition. Among the proposed projects awarded financial support is the OSCAL – New course on nuclear law project, which will be handled by a team of academics from the law faculties in Prague, Milan, Paris and Warsaw. Our Law Faculty, which will also serve as the main research institution in this project, will be represented by Prof. Jakub Handrlica, Natálie Holubová, Vladimír Sharp, Lucie Vonásková, and Lucie Vosečková from the Department of Administrative Law. The project aims to respond to the development of modern nuclear technologies, which have become integral to efforts to decarbonise and achieve energy self-sufficiency in Europe. These are not only classic nuclear power plants, but also microreactors that can be used in the future to power data centres or treat drinking water. The project brings together academics from countries that are traditionally inclined towards the nuclear option (Czech Republic, France) as well as from countries that plan to build nuclear facilities only in the coming years (Italy, Poland). Its aim is to prepare a textbook for teaching courses on modern nuclear law that can be used at all universities participating in the European University Alliance 4EU+.
Two workshops will be held as part of the OSCAL project – the first in Milan in spring 2026 and the second in Prague in autumn 2026.
