Three branches of study in English will be opened in the academic year of 2012/2013

1. International Law
Department of International Law of the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Prague offers a Ph.D. programme in Public International Law. The programme is oriented on theoretical questions of international legal doctrine, as well as selected topical issues of contemporary International Law, incl. human rights, International Criminal Law and protection of international investments.

2. European Law
Department of European Law of the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Prague offers a Ph.D. programme in European Law. The programme is oriented on theoretical questions of European Union and European Union Law including impacts on international trade or economic, monetary and financial issues. The programme offers also focus on human rights issues in European context including a position of individuals in the EU Law.

3. Environmental Law

Department of Environmental Law of the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Prague offers a new Ph.D. programme in Environmental Law. The programme is oriented on theoretical and practical questions of the International, European Union and Czech Environmental Law and Policy, including overlaps to the Land Law, Agriculture Law, Natural Resources Law, Energetic Law and Territorial Planning Law. The programme offers also focus on constitutional, criminal, administrative, civil and financial law relations and consequences of environmental matters.

Application procedure

Applicants will be admitted solely upon individual assessment in the admission procedure. The doctoral programme of study is directed towards theoretical research and autonomous creative work in the respective branch of expertise.
Applications are accepted until April 30, 2012.
The application form can be received from Mgr. Marcela Balikova, balikova@prf.cuni.cz.
The application should be appended with a notarized copy of a university diploma along with the diploma supplement verifying the graduation from a Master´s or equivalent programme of study.
If the applicant has not yet completed a Master´s programme at the time of filing the application, s/he must submit the required documents not later than on September 30, 2012.
The documents must be submitted along with their certified translation into Czech.
In addition, the applicant must submit his/her curriculum vitae in English, containing information on his/her professional activities (experience in legal practice) along with a list of publications (if applicable).
The applicant must submit an outline of his/her dissertation in English (approx. 3 pages, 800 words double-spaced) and attach his/her signature.

Admission requirements
a) In the oral entrance examination the applicant shall sufficiently demonstrate his/her professional and academic capacity to participate in the programme chosen and to autonomously conduct scientific research; and
b) The applicant shall submit an outline of his/her dissertation in English (approx. 3 pages, 800 words double-spaced) with his/her signature and the signature of a supervisor selected from the list of supervisors.

Regular date: June 13, 2012
Substitute date: June 21, 2012
Form of exam: oral
Form of study: full-time or combined (in the former case a conditional consent of the department head will be submitted with the application)

Admission of a particular applicant will be decided by the Dean.
Number of admitted students: 5 per programme
