Law journals

Acta Universitatis Carolinae Iuridica (AUCI)

Acta Universitatis Carolinae Iuridica (hereinafter AUCI) is the prime journal of the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Prague. AUCI has been published since 1954 and belongs to the traditional legal journals of the theoretical orientation.
As a general legal journal it introduces longer studies as well as shorter articles on any relevant issues in legal theory and international, European and national law. AUCI also publishes materials related to the current legislative issues. Although AUCI is primarily designated for domestic readers, the persons concerned from abroad may use English, French and German summaries that are each time connected to the main articles and studies. AUCI is a peer-reviewed journal which accepts contributions from any author on any current legal topic. The journal also exceptionally accepts foreign language contributions (only in English, French or German) but always with abstracts in the Czech language.
AUCI is the theoretical journal on issues of state and law. The editor is the Faculty of Law and the journal is published by Charles University Press in Prague – Karolinum.
AUCI is published 4 times a year. The content of each issue is also in English.
Each article is accompanied by a summary in foreign language (English) and keywords.
Editors expect the authors to provide only their original work of authorship, which has not been published yet. Each article must be attached with a summary in foreign language (English) including (approx. 1500 characters) and with keywords (about 5 words).
The manuscript should be sent in the electronic form, processed in a generally used text editor (preferably MS Word). Formal requirements for manuscripts: font size 12; Times New Roman; 1,5 line spacing. It is necessary that every manuscript is continuously paged and divided into paragraphs and chapters with eventual inter-titles. Notes should be numbered continuously and placed at the bottom of the page as foot-notes. Authors are fully responsible for not only the content but also for the linguistic and formal quality of their manuscript, which is one of the criteria of the overall evaluation.
Articles published in the journal AUCI go through an independent peer review. For the purposes of a peer review the name of the author is deleted (anonymousness). Usually, two reviewers of the given subject field (mainly members of the Editorial Board and external reviewers) express their opinion on the scientific quality of the article and the suitability for its publishing in the journal. In case of comments the reviewers´ opinion is sent back to the author for a possible revision of the text. Based on the result of the review process the Editorial Board informs the author about the acceptance or the rejection of his article. Insertion of the article into the particular volume of AUCI depends not only on the quality and time of the assignment of the manuscript, but also on thematic priorities expressed in e.g. monothematic volumes of the journal.
The journal AUCI (ISSN 0323 – 0619) is registered in the National Library of the Czech Republic and in the Index to Foreign legal periodicals (directed by the American Association of Law Libraries). AUCI has assigned a registration number of periodicals by Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic: E 18585.
